The Kramer Family || Outdoor Maternity Session || Southern California || Family Photography

~There is no joy in life as precious as the anticipation of a new arrival~

In the winter's light of an unusually warm January day, Stevie Dee Photography had the privilege of meeting the Kramer Family for a rustic, family photo session. Hailing from the 'Great Lakes State', this recently transplanted  Michigan family found our socal "winter" amusing, to say the least. This military family of three is expecting a new addition--and a California native to boot!  

Jessica and her husband have opted to keep the baby's gender a surprise; discipline is not lost on this couple! As proud parents to daughter Ayla, this sweet couple is most looking forward to growing their family and giving Ayla a sibling, regardless of gender. (A short conversation with Ayla may reveal that she feels differently about the prospect of a baby brother.)

This image of Ayla and her beloved Elmo is one of my favorites. It captures the simplicity of childhood in such an understated but meaningful light. She's inquisitive and determined yet still clutching her sidekick for reassurance.  

Such a tender, candid moment. This shot was taken before Ayla had fully warmed up to the camera. (And a complete stranger following her around singing "smile!" nearly every second!) But regardless of how the picture came to be, Jessica's silhouette coupled with her reassuring gesture captures every nuance of motherhood.  

A minimalist background was perfect for the Kramer family. This expansive, open field lent itself beautifully to the emotion and joy of their session.
